Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn/Winter 2011/2012

Last week, a friend of mine got invited to Jean Paul Gaultier Fall/Winter Fashion Show, and she asked me to accompany her. The event was held in Qi Lounge in Hotel Sultan on October 25, 2011. It's also the soft opening of the lounge.

I'm terribly sorry for the crappy pictures -.-' It was very dark inside and it's hard to keep the focus on the walking models.

You'd see models with grey beehives hair wore layers of clothes and then took the cardigan or blazer off one by one as they passed by. However, I a bit felt like the clothes were for old ladies. It might because of the grey hair. It could be the sweater or the longer skirt hem (it was fall/winter collection after all). The collection was dominated with black and red, even though I saw a hint of grey and white here and there. The collection was pretty basic to me.

Even though it wasn't as expected, I was still able to spot a few exciting items. I love the neat tight fitting dresses. They were sexy and the longer hem made them classy. However, I love the dress pictured above the most. Initially it looked like an ordinary navy stripes dress with oatmeat color cardigan. However, it was actually one piece of clothing! If you unbutton the cardigan and kind of let it fall, it became a pretty casual yet elegant long dress. Isn't it interesting?

Anyway, I was hoping to see out-of-the-world pieces of clothing in the fashion show. I knew it was not the haute couture collection, but it was Jean Paul Gaultier, so I expect at least a pop of the extraordinary. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I believe, it was the most wearable collection of JPG to date.

M by Musa "The Luric (She)'ll", Jakarta Fashion & Food Festival 2011

I was invited to the annual M by Musa Fashion Show during JFFF. It was held in Grand Ballroom Hotel Harris Kelapa Gading on May 20, 2011. M by Musa is Musa Widyatmodjo's ready-to-wear collection. This year was special since Musa Widyatmodjo collaborated with Yogi Soegyono who brought a new breath to the collection.

The invitation said that the show was to start on 6.30 sharp. Howeveeeerrr, I still had to wait for more than 30 minutes, while I was actually 30 minutes late! So the show was about an hour late -.-' Furthermore, I think the committee was not well prepared, since I noticed some people came in late and they did not have enough seats for them, even for some of the VIP O.O! Anyway, Titiek Puspa, Jeremy and Ina Thomas, and some socialites were spotted in the front row.

A bit accident, though, I forgot to charge my camera battery! Horror I know, so I decided not to take any picture. But then, in the middle of the show I was like, heck why should I care, I should just snap everything til the battery died down, so that's what I did. However, I already missed some of the collection :( There were a lot though, I didn't count but I am sure there were at least 70 different collection sets.

The show itself was divided into 3 sections. I really love the long catwalk. This year collection was influenced by Chinese cheongsam just like before, but this one also had the Victorian feels with its lace and silhouette, and not to forget the thick Indonesian heritage was shown. There were a lot of jacquard long coats and dresses. I saw a lot of basic colors like black, grey, white and red, with a pop of green and electric here and there. Some of the models wore hats, inspired by the British in the Royal Wedding probably?

In the middle of the show, there was this little lady model suddenly made an appearance. She was so adorable and people were going like "aawww..." I had to say that she successfully stole the spotlights! She would appear again near the end of the show.

Moving on, the audiences were again surprised by a male model who was holding those two little guys' hands wearing matching jackets. Well, there were really cute (are they twins?), but I started to think, how many children would be in the show. I strongly felt he should pick the girl OR the boys, but not all of them. Furthermore, I couldn't help but notice the resemblance with Brad Koenig and his son wearing matching jackets in Chanel Spring 2011 Fashion Show.

Overall, I really love the show and the collection. I am sold! I definitely will buy some of the clothes. The clothes are unique, affordable, practical, wearable, and surely beautiful. I also love its detail in each of the clothing items. I think ready-to-wear clothing is a growing business. More Indonesian designers should have their own ready-to-wear collection. We do not go to parties everyday, but we definitely go out often.

Bebe Summer 2011 Fashion Show, Jakarta

I was invited to Bebe Summer 2011 Collection Fashion Show which was held on May 5th, 2011 in Senayan City. The stage was built right in front of Bebe store in Senayan City. The invitation said that the event started at 6 p.m. for cocktail and chitchatting and the fashion show started at 7 p.m.

My friends and I arrived just right about 7 p.m. Most of the chairs provided were seated so we didn't have much choices. We didn't get the best seats, so pardon me for the not-so-great pictures. We also missed out the hor d'oeuvres :(

They also gave out a compact mirror with bebe logo as party favors.

The clothes to me screamed "beach parteeehh." I felt the collection lacked of a real strong theme. They basically were sexy. some of them were super sexy and tight, just what one would expect from Bebe. I also noticed there were a lot of bright colors such as hot pink or fuschia and red.

The first four pictures on the top were my favorites. They were wearable, sexy but not in-your-face kind of sexy, and they did not show too much cleavage, if any XD

The fashion show lasted for less that 30 minutes I believe. It wasn't long; or to be honest, it felt too short. I am still thinking to buy one of the four dresses that I like.

FashiObssession: Louis Vuitton Beauty Pumps

Last week, I went to Singapore and brought a magazine home, Female Sep 2010 edition. One spreadsheet stood out the most: Return to Form. My scanner didn't work, so I took a picture of the article.

I held my breath when I saw the SHOES. The adrenaline pumped up and I knew that I had to have them! Turns out, they were Louis Vuitton Beauty Pumps from the Fall/Winter 2010/11 collection. They are available in 3 different heights, and I find that each of them are equally beautiful. So, here they are:

in calf leather

10.5 cm (4.2") for $815 or euro

7.5 cm (3") for $790 or 550 euro

3.5 cm (1.4") for $760

in Crocodile
10.5 cm (4.2") for 6,400 euro
in Ostrich

10.5 cm (4.2") for $2,580 or 1,800 euro
in Satin with Crocodile-print calf leather heels and Ostrich-print calf leather bow

10.5 cm or (4.2") for $890 or 620 euro
in Velvet with heels covered in Swarovski strass and Satin bow

10.5 cm (4.2") for $1,420 or 990 euro

3.5 cm (1.4") for $1,360 or 950 euro

Even though I am crazy about high heels, I'm digging in the low heels version. I love, adore, crazy about (whatever similar verb you can think of) the bow. The proportion of the bow and human foot is just perfect. However, I am not into thick heels, so maybe that's why I prefer the one with low heels. And I don't like the Swarovski covered heels either; they were too bling-bling to my taste :( boo..
More from the ads:

I LOVE the red pair with silver satin bow(!) and you can see some pairs in different colors on the right. yummy...I have to go to the store ASAP!
