Smitten...by the Patissier, Singapore

Since I could not finish up the fried carrot cake, I still felt somewhat hungry so I went straight to dessert! There are a lot of interesting kiosk in Takashimaya Food Hall, and I decided to try Smitten by the Patissier. Well, it was actually my dad who was really really curious about the cake. He had wanted to try it from a few week ago.

First Kiss - S$7.00

They claimed the first kiss as their best seller, so that's what we ordered. The meringue roulade was basically meringue shell filled with passionfruit mousse, and fresh mangoes and strawberries. The meringue was soft and somewhat chewy topped with powdered sugar. The passionfruit mousse filling had nice fruity aroma. I expected the cake to be sour (passionfruit and strawberry? duh). However, it was actually sweet, even thought the sweetness was soft, not too sweet. The diced mangoes and strawberries were not sour either. The cake was light and airy. I got to admit that the cake is not photogenic, but it was really delicious!

On a side note, I found it cute that a whole roulade was called hug, and the slice was called kiss. Furthermore, they also included a small ice pack in the package to keep it cold.

High Society, Singapore

After stuffing ourselves at Wee Nam Kee, my friends and I headed to Marina area. Unfortunately, it was raining so we had no other choice but wandering around the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

High Society

While shopping around, we passed by High Society. The cafe looked so cute and nicely decorated. Even though we were sooo full, the girls and I just could not resist to grab a few macaroons to chew on the go =p

Cake and Macaroon display

As much as I wanted to try some of those cute tempting cupcakes, I was too full and our time was kind of limited. So we had to satisfy ourselves only with a few macaroons.

Earl Grey, Banana, and Maple Macaroons - S$2.80

The macaroon here costed $0.80 more than the one in TWG, but it was a bit bigger in size. All of them were sweet and the macaroon shell was chewy. Each of the macaroons has its own aroma that was suitable to its taste. Earl Grey Macaroon smells like earl grey tea; Banana Macaroon filled with caramel cream; and Maple Macaroon tasted like maple syrup on top of pancake. I loved them all.

I got to try my friend's macaroon. She had the rose raspberry macaroon (not pictured), and it had such a seducing smell of rose. It was my favorite, together with the earl grey :)

Garrett Popcorn, Singapore

While sipping and and chewing my yummy bubble tea, I passed by Garrett Popcorn! I remember buying it during my Chicago trip. The popcorn was greeeaattt!! One of the best popcorn in the world, I may say. Therefore, when I passed by the stall, I got so exited and decided to wait in line for it =D

Chicago Mix - S$7

Basically, there were only two kinds of popcorn here, the cheesecorn and the caramel. However, there were a lot of options regarding the mixing that you want. You can buy the cheesecorn or the caramelcrisp alone, or mixed it together. You can even buy the caramelcrisp mixed with peanuts, such as almond, macademia, and/or pecan for $9 for the smallest bag, which is a lot smaller than the one without peanuts.

Cheesecorn and Caramelcrisp

I picked the Chicago Mix, which was a mixed of cheesecorn and caramelcrisp. I generally love caramel popcorn. And, Garrett's caramelcrisp is the best! Just like the name, it was crispy and coated with sweet caramel perfectly. I even loved the cheesecorn. It was softier and puffier compare to caramelcrisp. To be honest, I found they were perfectly good if eaten together.

Nanny's Pavillon: Livingroom

I had been curious about Nanny's Pavillon the Living room for a while, since it was their first branch in Jakarta. However, having it located in Citywalk Sudirman always drew me back since I had to make a special trip there.

Nanny's Pavillon: Living room

The restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday evening. However, when my friend and I left during dinner time, I noticed there were more people coming.

The super cute menu book

I love every details on each of Nanny's pavillon branches. They successfully managed to decorate each of them with different themes. I even love its menu book!

Nanny's Mango Cocktail - Rp 40k

Nanny's Cocktail was for sharing. The menu said it was for 4 people, while I think it was about enough for the two of us. There were 2 choices, mango and blueberry; and as you can see, we picked mango. There were chopped apples, mango, and strawberry mixed with mango flavored drink. The drink was sweet but the fruit bits was a bit too sour so that it was refreshing. However, it was really too sour for my tastebud, my friend loved it though.

Anyway, look at the cute uniform that the waitress wore!

Grilled Baby Potato - Rp 27k

Since we were there during afternoon tea time, we were just up for some snacks and waffle, so we ordered the grilled baby potato. It looked super cute with puffy mini potatoes. However, it tasted blah. The baby potatoes were almost tasteless and we did not like the texture of the potato skins. We did not finish it.

Blueberry Cheese Waffle - Rp 29k

It was actually Blueberry Cheese Roll Pancake in the menu, but we asked the waitress to substitute the pancake roll for waffle. The waffle was served with cream cheese, blueberry sauce, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I loved the waffle, it was soft but a bit soggy. The blueberry sauce was a bit sour funnily complimented the salty cream cheese.

The non smoking area

The waffle was great, but we were not impressed with its appetizer. I would definitely visit their other branches :) I really adore their concept with cute details and decorations!

p.s even the website was beyond cute!!!do not forget to check it out.

Prince House

Last week, it was a little after 10p.m. that my cousins suddenly wanted to hang out. There were not so many options for late night snack in Kelapa Gading area. Our favorite was Prince House, and so there we went. They have killer waffles! The only downside was there were A LOT of mosquitoes, there were times that we did not go there, even though we wanted to because of it.

The dummy waffles!
The first thing I noticed whenever I went there was this showcases in the middle of the room filled with delicious tempting looking waffles. Little did I know they were only dummies! They look so cute, right?

Nachos - Rp 15k
We were there for late night snack, and at that time, they usually only offered waffles. However, we managed to order the nachos. Well, it was a bit disappointment since the tortilla chips were actually (we believed they were) Happy Tos! There were no cheddar cheese as promised in the menu as well. It was just Happy tos and salsa, which they claimed to be homemade but we did not buy it. pshh...

Lemon Tea (Rp 11k), Dark Chocolate Gelato Shake (Rp 26k), and
Strawberry Italian Soda (Rp 14k)
The Chocolate Gelato shake was sweet, my cousin loved it. However, it was a bit too milky to my liking. I ordered the Strawberry Italian Soda and it was also sweet, I definitely can taste the strawberry flavor in it. But on a second thought, it tasted like soggy fanta, less soda and wayyy sweeter than normal fanta. Then my cousin, who ordered the Lemon Tea, and I realized that our drinks was a bit too sweet and had almost no ice, so we asked for more ice. It turned out that they ran out of ice!!! They should have warned us when we ordered, or at least told us when they were about to make it. Another disappointment here that they decided to fool us. It was not a big of deal tho', but stil....

Tiramisu Cappucino Deluxe - Rp 28k
For the waffles, we got the Tiramisu Cappucino Deluxe. Deluxe set means we got two waffles and one scoops of gelato. Tiramisu Gelato included 3 toppings, which were chocolate tiramisu sauce, chocolate cappucino sauce, and topped with chocolate rice. For the gelato my cousin insisted on picking the durian gelato. The waffles were great. They were a bit crunchy yet soft. The durian gelato also tasted great. It was smooth in texture and the flavor was not too strong, but you can definitely taste the durian.

Cinnamilk - Rp 8k
We also ordered Cinnamilk. The waffle was basically covered with white chocolate sauce and sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon powder. I am actually not a fan of white chocolate because it can get too milky and sweet. However, I love this one. They have enough sweetness, and the cinnamon took over the milky taste. Loved it!

Bakerzin

After a movie in Plaza Indonesia tonight, My friend and I decided to grab some snacks at the not-so-newly opened Bakerzin. Bakerzin Plaza Indonesia had just been relocated from the Basement to the Ground floor, exactly next to Kichenette. It still has the elegant aura but I like the new one better since they really separate the smoking and non-smoking zone with the kitchen and cake showcase in between them.

Bratwurst with Sauteed Potato - Rp 45k
We ordered the sausage and it was heavenly! We were not hungry but we wanted more of these.lol The sausages were fat, tasty, and tender. They was not too fulfilling so they left us wanting more of them. The baby potatoes were also delicious. They were soft inside but crunchy on the outside.

Mango Sparkling Fruity Tea - Rp 27.5k
I ordered the Mango Sparkling Fruity Tea for the drink. It was mango tea mixed with Sprite, if I'm not mistaken. I really loved this! It was sweet and refreshing.

Grand Marnier Souffle - Rp 47.5k
For dessert, we got the Grand Marnier Souffle. I am a fan of their Baileys Souffle, but this time around my friend suggested the Grand Marnier one instead. I still preferred the Baileys Souffle over this one, but I quite liked it. However, my friend did not like it at all. She said it was too milky. I actually felt the same, but I didn't find it disturbing tho'.

On a side note, I would like to say that I like their menu with beautiful photographs of its food.

The Goods Cafe

The Goods Cafe is located inside The Goods Dept, a department store that specialized in Indonesian ready-to-wear label, in Plaza Indonesia. My friend and I did not intend to have dinner there actually. We just checked out The Goods Dept, then I felt hungry, so off we go to the cafe.

It was full tonight, but since there were just the two of us, it was easier to get a seat. Oh and I feel like I have to mention a traffic report on a side note, Jakarta's traffic tonight was super friendly. I believe most of its citizens had gone mudik or on holiday. Thus, there were just the two of us, since most of my friends had gone on holiday as well.

Classic Burger - Rp 50k
We decided to share the Classic Burger. You can add blue cheese or gruyere cheese for Rp 10k each. We didn't add any of the cheese. And it was greaaaaaat! We really liked the burger, we even loved the potato wedges with shredded parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. The beef patty was perfectly grilled and it was juicy. The only thing that we hate was the bitter leaves in the salad. I didn't dare to touch it. yuck

Caesar Salad - Rp 40k
The Caesar Salad looked simple with grilled chicken, oven roasted tomato, avocado, and parmesan. You can add poached egg for Rp5k and/or bacon for another Rp 15k. We didn't add anything to it. And again, the salad was good. We cleaned the bowl in minutes!haha..

Baileys Caramel - Rp 50k
When I looked at the Shakes section, I got overly excited that they offered Baileys shakes :p The waitress suggested Baileys Milkshake, and I initially ordered that. However, I could not get over the thought of Baileys and Caramel, both are my favorite!, mixed together, so I changed my order to Baileys Caramel. It was basically Baileys Milkshake, which were Baileys, scoops of vanilla ice cream, and milk, mixed with caramel. It was beyond wonderful! I really really love it! However, my friend said it was too sweet, but it was perfect for me :D The only downside was the price. It was the same price as the burger O.O! but me likey..

I heard a lot of good reviews about this place but I didn't think it would be this good! I really like it, definitely will come back ;)

Bittersweet Corner

After resting at Ismaya Catering Cafe, we went shopping again in Grand Indonesia, then moved to Plaza Indonesia. I sometimes wonder how come most girls (well, at least me :p) have so much power when it comes to go shopping, yet have minimum ability to endure gym session. Anyway, we were tired, again, and felt the need to recharge our "energy." It was dinner time, but since we did not feel hungry whatsoever, we decided to grab some snacks or desserts instead.

My friend suggested to go to Bittersweet Corner. It was located at the corner of the 3rd floor of The Plaza/ PI extension. It shared a store with Perennials, a fancy tableware and cookware store. I initially thought that Bittersweet Corner was more like a high tea place, like the one that was just closed and located in the same spot. It turned out they just offered a la carte menu.

Green Tea Macaroon - Rp 10k & Caramel Macaroon - Rp 12k
I had been more than curious about their macaroons since I read Ruby's post about it. Note that he took waaaayyy better picture than me, if you have not kown about it already :p Anyway, I ordered the green tea and caramel macaroons. The macaroons shell looked a bit rough. The caramel macaroon was sweet and it smells sooo nice! The shells were a bit crunchy and hollow inside. Meanwhile, the shells of the green tea macaroon were more gooey and not that hollow, I hope it makes sense :s. It has strong matcha green tea aroma in a good way. Now, I found it a bit weird, but what I like the most about the macaroons here is the SMELL! they smell really nice!

Red Velvet Cupcake - Rp 27k
My friend ordered a cupcake, again, right after the cupcake in Ismaya Catering Cafe! I thought she was struck by the cupcake craze :p It was basically red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting topped with red colored sugar and red heart shaped confetti sprinkles. It tasted so much better than the one we had in Ismaya Catering Cafe. The cake was moist but a bit sticky. The cream cheese frosting complimented it perfectly. I usually do not like cream cheese, but I like this one.

Ice Thai Tea & Ice Tea - Rp 27k ea
I ordered Ice Thai Tea, and my friend got Ice Tea. I wonder how come they were priced the same. However, I really like the ice Thai tea! It was sweet and refreshing. Overall, Bittersweet Corner was such a sweet ending to our shopping day :)

Ismaya Catering Cafe

After having lunch at The Manhattan Fish Market, my friend and I continued shopping in Grand Indonesia. After a while, we were thirsty and tired of walking, so we decided to stop for a while. We were at Level One, so we stopped by at Ismaya Catering Cafe.

It was located in the middle of Level One shopping area. It was divided into 2 zoning area, smoking and non smoking. The smoking area was inside the restaurant, while the non smoking one was outside, near the Level One cash register. Inside, there was also an office for Ismaya Catering Co. Anyway, even though we were seated at the non smoking area, we could somehow smell the smoke X(

Choco Loco Cupcake - Rp 25k
My friend decided to ordered Choco Loco Cupcake. Well, she actually preferred the royal velvet one, but they ran out of it. The Choco Loco Cupcake was just an ordinary chocolate cupcake, chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting, nothing fancy. Furthermore, it was rather dry. We didn't like it.

Ice Tea - Rp 15k
Lychee Refresher - Rp 30k
My friend ordered ice tea, while I, feeling a bit adventurous, ordered Lychee Refresher. The waitress who served us was newly hired, so she didn't know the description of anything on the menu. When I asked her what's in the lychee refresher, and her answer was: "It is um...lychee drink" duuhhh..-.- I expected her to continue her explanation, but she just stood there looking at me staring at her blankly, so she continued,"Well, I don't know. I'm new here *giggle*" And that's it -.-' I understood since she was new, but I could not accept her lack of initiative to find out the answer.

I ordered it anyway. Turned out, it was lychee drink with soda, and I could feel ginger in it. So I think it was ginger ale mixed with lychee syrup served with lychees. Even though in the menu it was mentioned as their signature drink, I did not really like it. It tastes rather weird to me.

Mr. Puff

We passed by Mr. Puff after having dinner at Hachi Hachi Bistro. I was too full that even dessert didn't sound appealing to me. However, one of my cousins decided to stop by. Since I was really full, I decided not to get any, yet they forced me to get some!dayum... I did believe that they were on a mission to fail my diet program!lol

Mr. Puff, Central Park
My cousin loved Mr. Puff. I love cream puff, in fact I am a Beard Papa addict, but I had never tried Mr. Puff's before. I remembered back then during my college years, I often went to Bread Papa just to get some cream puffs in the middle of group meetings :p However, I heard the stall near my university had closed down :(

I always love the crunchy shell. Beard Papa called it Cookie Shell, while Mr. Puff named it Polo Puff. They looked similar but I felt Beard Papa had bigger size. However, Mr. Puff's looked crunchier.

Polo Puff was priced a bit higher at Rp 8k compared to the Original Puff, which was priced Rp 7k. Other than those two, they have other choices of shells, but I forgot what they were. Sowwiii... :p

Polo Puff with Chocholate Filling - Rp 8k
Mr. Puff had more filling choices compare to Beard Papa. They had Chocolate, Vanilla, Green Tea, Rhum, and Mocca. In Beard Papa, I usually ordered the regular one a.k.a the not-so-boring vanilla. Looking at the different choices, I temped to order the rhum or mocca. However, my cousin had ordered the chocolate one for me :(

Well, it was great but personally I still prefer Beard Papa cream puff, even though it is more expensive. The shell at Beard Papa is crunchier and bigger. However, Mr. Puff gave me more filling than Beard Papa, I believed.

Kitchenette

I've been here numerous times but never written any review about it. Kitchenette is managed by Ismaya Group. And just like other products of Ismaya, I would say it was successful. There was usually a line on the weekend or if there wasn't, the restaurant was busy. However, service was a hit-or-miss. They could be really accommodating, like offering a special box for your bag, but sometimes they were not.

In terms of food quality, I was not really impressed. Once I ordered Chicken Caesar Salad, and they served the chicken half-cooked!!eeewww....and a bunch of different stuff I tried, they were just okay. However, I love their sweet crepes. Mary Lou is my favorite! and their drinks never failed me.

This time we went there just for snacking.
Nachos Style Crispy Potato Chillis With Chilli Beans with guacamole and salsa topping -
Rp 45k + Rp 10k for each topping
The nachos was not your regular nachos with tortilla chips. This came with potato chips which was kind of disappointing to me. But it tasted super good! The chilli, melted cheese, our guacamole and salsa, and even the chips were good mixed together.

London Fog Earl Grey latte - around Rp 30k (I forgot)
Green Tea Latte - Rp 30k
I Love Earl Grey Tea and the London Fog Earl Grey Latte made the tea to be more aromatic and creamy. I loved it! They also offered it cold, which was what I intended to order, but I forgot to tell them that I wanted it served frozen -.-' my bad. My friend got the green tea latte and she adored it. I also love their frozen hot chocolate (Rp 35k - not pictured).

Mary Lou

Red Velvet Cupcake (Rp 28k)
I forgot how much the desserts cost us. Anyway, the Mary Lou crepes was super delicious, exactly like how I loved it. It came with banana, nutella, topped with caramel sauce, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All of the ingredients that I LOVED! How can I resist.lol
However, the cupcake was okay to me, but my friend said it tasted bad. Okay, the icing had the texture of fondant, so it was kinda chewy and a bit dry. The cake was too dry.
