Cafe Mount E, Singapore

Whenever I go to Singapore with my parents, it usually means check up/doctor time. And I can assure you it takes a whole day, or sometimes even a few days. They always make the time to go to Mount Elizabeth Hospital. It was close to Orchard Road. During lunch time in between appointments with doctors, we usually have our lunch in Paragon just across the street, or in the hospital's cafeteria.

The cafeteria was called Cafe Mount E. It was newly renovated that made it more comfortable. However, it was super crowded with nurses, doctors, and staff during lunch time.

1 vegetable + 2 meat = S$4.00

There was no menu here. Basically we just need to wait in line and point out what we want and then pay at the cashier. The food here is quite tasty and super cheap! My favorite was the fried chicken. It was boneless and delicious. I always added veggies, and that time I decided to added some fish balls. I thought, the fish balls were leftover from the breakfast menu since it was already cold.

I was not sure how much it costed me. Anyway, my dad loves its fried fish, and he always gets that and some veggies also. I saw the signboard ad it said 1 vegetable + 2 meat = S$4, meanwhile 2 vegetable + 1 meat = S$3.50. We spent only S$12 for 2 portions of food and 2 packs of cold sliced fruits (@ S$2.00).

The drink station

I was not sure whether I have to pay for drinks, but I saw a lot of people just grab the drinks from the drink station, and some even went for a refill. So, i just did the same thing. Maybe it's free, or maybe the cashier had added the drink price to the bill, I am not sure.

They have hot drinks, such as tea and coffee, and cold ones, which they change daily. That day, they had bandung (rose milk syrup) and orange syrup. Some other times, they had banana and lychee syrup.

Cafe Mount E during lunch time

My father loves the food that sometimes he wants to eat there even though we do not have any doctor appointment at that time!lol

Starbucks Coffee: petite menu

I'm not going to review its coffee, since I'm not a coffee expert myself. In fact, my doctor does not really allow me to drink too much coffee. I went there with a bunch of high school friends for catching up.

Ice Green Tea Latte, Grande - Rp 36k
(got it upsized from Tall using BCA credit card)
Ice Green Tea Latte is one of my favorite non coffee drinks in Starbuck. Anyway, do you notice something different? Yes, the logo is different. It's Starbucks' new logo. I'm not going to discuss about the controversy whether its expansion beyond coffee is a good idea or not.

However, what do you think of the new logo? They basically drops  the "Starbucks Coffee" green band to suit their new concept. I personally love the previous logo more. It might be because I'm used to it, who knows. I think they should just keep the old logo for the coffee, and use the new logo for the other things. Oh well...
Cake pops: Birthday, Rocky Road, Tiramisu
When I was about to pay, I saw these cute little things in the counter, and I just had to try it!lol
Rocky Road Cake Pop - Rp 12,5k
Cake pop was actually the most popular products (at least in the US) of Starbucks petite menu.I tried the Rocky Road one. It was basically chocolate basically cake and icing dipped in dark chocolate, then rolled in mini marshmallows and roasted almonds. It looked really cute with the mini marshmallows; they were so small that you could barely taste them.lol Most of my friends did not like how it taste. I found it was just okay, and it actually felt umm...not fresh. I was disappointed since I heard a lot of great reviews about it from my US friends.
Whopie Pie Red Velvet - Rp 13,5k each (Rp 25k for 2)
My friends LOVED this so much and raved about it for days! Therefore, I was really curious to try it. The whopie pie had cream cheese frosting filling. They were just okay too. In fact, they were too sweet, if I may say. Starbucks petite menu failed me :(

Early Morning @ McDonald's Sarinah

Mr. Foo had to renew his US visa and I had to take him there early in the morning. While waiting for him, rather than hanging out in Gambir or Monas ( The U.S Embassy is located right across Gambir Train Station), I decided to go to McDonald's Sarinah. It reopened just recently.

It was not busy when I arrived at 8 a.m. Actually, the one in Kelapa Gading was way more crowded compare to it. Anyway, I ordered the Sausage McMuffin meal; it comes with hash brown and hot coffee, but I asked for hot tea instead.

McMuffin Set Meal - Rp 26k-ish

It was my first time trying out McMuffin, and I didn't like it. McMuffin was basically a sausage patty and a slice of cheese in a toasted and buttered English muffin. However, I could barely taste the meat flavor. The good side was, the English Muffin was kind of chewy. The hash brown was oily , oh well it was deep fried, so what did I expect..I thought it would taste better if they fried it a little bit longer.

I heard some of my friends complained that the new interior made it not as comfortable as before, but in my opinion I liked the new McD better. It's cleaner and not as packed as it used to be. They also provided some computers for customers to use, as well as free WiFi for those who brought their own laptops.

It turned out the WiFi service needed a username and password. I had to ask for them, and here they are:

username: mcdonalds
password: cheeseburger

I had to giggle when I heard the password. It was just too cute. However, after sitting there for a few minutes, I realized that it was too cold there.brrr.....maybe because there was not that many people, I'm not sure. Luckily, I brought my cardigan.
