Smitten...by the Patissier, Singapore

Since I could not finish up the fried carrot cake, I still felt somewhat hungry so I went straight to dessert! There are a lot of interesting kiosk in Takashimaya Food Hall, and I decided to try Smitten by the Patissier. Well, it was actually my dad who was really really curious about the cake. He had wanted to try it from a few week ago.

First Kiss - S$7.00

They claimed the first kiss as their best seller, so that's what we ordered. The meringue roulade was basically meringue shell filled with passionfruit mousse, and fresh mangoes and strawberries. The meringue was soft and somewhat chewy topped with powdered sugar. The passionfruit mousse filling had nice fruity aroma. I expected the cake to be sour (passionfruit and strawberry? duh). However, it was actually sweet, even thought the sweetness was soft, not too sweet. The diced mangoes and strawberries were not sour either. The cake was light and airy. I got to admit that the cake is not photogenic, but it was really delicious!

On a side note, I found it cute that a whole roulade was called hug, and the slice was called kiss. Furthermore, they also included a small ice pack in the package to keep it cold.

High Society, Singapore

After stuffing ourselves at Wee Nam Kee, my friends and I headed to Marina area. Unfortunately, it was raining so we had no other choice but wandering around the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

High Society

While shopping around, we passed by High Society. The cafe looked so cute and nicely decorated. Even though we were sooo full, the girls and I just could not resist to grab a few macaroons to chew on the go =p

Cake and Macaroon display

As much as I wanted to try some of those cute tempting cupcakes, I was too full and our time was kind of limited. So we had to satisfy ourselves only with a few macaroons.

Earl Grey, Banana, and Maple Macaroons - S$2.80

The macaroon here costed $0.80 more than the one in TWG, but it was a bit bigger in size. All of them were sweet and the macaroon shell was chewy. Each of the macaroons has its own aroma that was suitable to its taste. Earl Grey Macaroon smells like earl grey tea; Banana Macaroon filled with caramel cream; and Maple Macaroon tasted like maple syrup on top of pancake. I loved them all.

I got to try my friend's macaroon. She had the rose raspberry macaroon (not pictured), and it had such a seducing smell of rose. It was my favorite, together with the earl grey :)

Delifrance, Singapore

Remember I told you that my parents can take a whole day in Mount Elizabeth Hospital. Well, the hospital was super cold. I sometimes wonder how come they set the temperature so low at a hospital? I mean a hospital is supposed to be full of sick people, and I doubt they appreciate the super cold temperature. Doesn't it make them feel worse?

Anyway, about 3 hours after having my lunch at Cafe Mount E, I still waited for my parents and started to tremble because of the super cold air-con. I suddenly remembered that there was Delifrance in the hospital, so I figured I just walk there to have a sip of hot chocolate.

Almond Croissant - S$4.20 and
Hot Chocolate - S$4.00

While I was ordering my hot chocolate, I was tempted by trays of croissant and cakes. Thus, I ordered an almond croissant to accompany my hot chocolate. The croissant was huge and looked super appealing to me. It was sweet because of the generous amount of powdered sugar poured on top of it. And I also enjoyed the smell of almonds.

The hot chocolate was tiny in size and it was very hot! I had to wait a while before I can savor it. but let me tell you, sipping a hot chocolate after being in an almost frozen state was heaven, so I did not really have a say about its taste. I did enjoy taking a deep breath, inhaling its aroma ;p

The Outdoor Terrace

Little did I know, they also had their own outdoor terrace! How nice is that. So, after grabbing my orders, it did not take much time for me to decide that I need to hang out there for a little while. It's sooo nice to feel the sun warmth again.

Apple Walnut Cake - S$4.50

The next day, I had to come back to the hospital for some reasons, and I felt cold, again. I recalled the warm terrace of Delifrance. So there I went. That day, I got the apple walnut cake instead. I innitially was not really fond of the cake itself. I bought it just because there was only one left, and it must be good, right? Considering other kinds of cake and pastry still have some left and this one was almost sold out.

Well, the cake was moist and it was not too sweet. I did not really pay attention to the apples and walnuts tho' but I was sure I tasted them here and there. Over all, I was not really impressed with it, it was just okay for me.

Bakerzin

After a movie in Plaza Indonesia tonight, My friend and I decided to grab some snacks at the not-so-newly opened Bakerzin. Bakerzin Plaza Indonesia had just been relocated from the Basement to the Ground floor, exactly next to Kichenette. It still has the elegant aura but I like the new one better since they really separate the smoking and non-smoking zone with the kitchen and cake showcase in between them.

Bratwurst with Sauteed Potato - Rp 45k
We ordered the sausage and it was heavenly! We were not hungry but we wanted more of these.lol The sausages were fat, tasty, and tender. They was not too fulfilling so they left us wanting more of them. The baby potatoes were also delicious. They were soft inside but crunchy on the outside.

Mango Sparkling Fruity Tea - Rp 27.5k
I ordered the Mango Sparkling Fruity Tea for the drink. It was mango tea mixed with Sprite, if I'm not mistaken. I really loved this! It was sweet and refreshing.

Grand Marnier Souffle - Rp 47.5k
For dessert, we got the Grand Marnier Souffle. I am a fan of their Baileys Souffle, but this time around my friend suggested the Grand Marnier one instead. I still preferred the Baileys Souffle over this one, but I quite liked it. However, my friend did not like it at all. She said it was too milky. I actually felt the same, but I didn't find it disturbing tho'.

On a side note, I would like to say that I like their menu with beautiful photographs of its food.

Ninety Nine

Since Magnum Cafe was super crowded (to say it's super crowded is an understatement) when my friends and I were there the last time, we decided to go to Ninety Nine. It was strategically located in the middle of East Mall Grand Indonesia.

We had to wait for about 15 minutes for our table for we didn't make any reservation on a Friday night. For the interior, they had 2 themes. The garden theme was for the non smoking section, and the dark vintage theme was for the smoking one. Unfortunately, I forgot to take any picture of the interior since we were too busy catching up.

In Ninety nine, one also can order from Bonjour Pastry or from the bakery on the other side.

Nasi Goreng Kampung - Rp 39k vs Nasi Goreng Istimewa Rp 69k
One of my friends recommended its fried rice. Therefore, we ordered 2 different kinds. Nasi goreng kampung, the less expensive one, only consisted of fried crackers and fried egg. Meanwhile, the nasi goreng istimewa got an additional fried chicken and satay. I didn't try them, since I was on a diet *cough..* but they said that Nasi Goreng Istimewa tasted better.

Quarter Roasted Chicken - Rp 39k (half for Rp 69k)
with Belgian French Fries - Rp 29k
The other friend ordered roasted chicken and she said it was delicious. She wished she ordered the half one.lol However, the waitress who took our order was a bit tricky. She asked my friend whether she wanted it come with french fries or mashed potato. Thinking that the side dishes was a complimentary, she said she preferred the french fries. It turned out, we had to pay for it.

Chicken Quiche - Rp 24k
My friend ordered this Chicken Quiche from the Ranch Kitchen & Pastry to share. And let me tell you, it was the BEST quiche I'd ever had! I couldn't get enough of this. It was super yummy. Now, I'm craving for this as I'm typing. It was that good
Ice Yakult - Rp30k & Ice Chocolate - Rp 40k
I ordered Ice yakult thinking that it would be a pack of yakult served in a glass lol It turned out it just had a hint of yakult flavor. It's more like yogurt drink. I liked it tho', it was refreshing. and since we talked much (girls..lol), I had to order another drink. I ordered the Ice Chocolate. It came with vanilla ice cream. However, I did not like it. It was too milky for me. I love chocolate milk, but I couldn't drink regular white milk. So I couldn't finish it.
Rare Cheesecake - Rp30ish & Eri - Rp 28k
We got the cake from Bonjour French Pastry. I felt that the rare cheesecake was okay, too cheesy to my likey, but most of my friends adored it. Eri was basically chocolate mousse. I do not really like mousse, but I love its chocolate ganache. Both cakes looks really cute tho'.

Choco Chocolate at Dapur Cokelat

I am so tired yet so excited for tomorrow. I'm just done packing my suitcase because tomorrow... *drum roll* I'm leaving for the US! yayyyy!!!I've been waiting to come back to the US for months! I will be there for 3 weeks only, but I'm so excited!!!

This is my last post for today since I need to have enough sleep. After having dinner yesterday, we paid a visit to Dapur Cokelat since one of my cousins wouldn't stop bugging us unless he had his dessert!

It turned out they had a promo too! What a cheapskate day.lol
The Promo

Caramel Chocolate (supposedly Rp 115,000), Hazulnut Praline (supposedly Rp 155,000), and Chococheez (supposedly Rp 145,000) were sold at Rp 100,000 per loaf only in September.Honestly, I think a loaf was too much for the three of us; however, my "dessert-lover" cousin insisted. He was the only male that could beat me in terms of dessert! I still could not (or would not) believe it.

Ice Chocolate - Rp 10,000
pictured with Hazulnut Praline Cake

Rum Ball - around Rp 3,000

So, he bought the cake by the loaf, and we asked the waiter to slice and put them in plates since we wanted to sit around for a while. We also tried the Ice Chocolate, which had chocolate bites inside. The cake was not that good. I did not like it at all. It was bland and not sweet at all. The Rum Ball, on the other hand, was perfect! You could taste the rum lingered a while, but it did not overpower the chocolate flavor. I loved it!
